SkyWAN©.Cargo
Corporate satellite network
This service is addressed to the users with extensive
transmission demands, seeking at the same time
a minimum cost solutions. The SkyWAN.Cargo network
has been created for the high bandwidth applications
allowing to create LAN and WAN networks, corporate
Intranet and Internet networks, VPN (Virtual Private
Networks), telemedicine and Remote Learning purposes.
Satellite terminals allow building of private
separated networks, whose throughput can be expressed
as a total and/or multiple of any of 750kbps.
Throughput of 1,5Mbps may be offered as an option.
Beside the standard of
IP protocol, one may choose between Frame Relay
and ATM protocols.
A significant feature of this service is that
no fees are charged for the generated traffic
- the customer pays only fixed fees for the assigned
network resources. The type of bandwidth assigned
to the client’s network may be increased in steps
of 750kbps according to one’s needs. This satellite
bandwidth is shared among all nodes of customer’s
separated network.
The principle of dynamic bandwidth allocation
The bandwidth is allocated between the stations
requesting transmission in each time frame of
several tens of milliseconds, which satisfies
the demand for transmission of each node. In case
of a temporary overflow of available bandwidth,
the whole excess bandwidth is allocated to currently
transmitting nodes, to minimize the transmission
time. In this way the dynamic allocation of bandwidth
allows it to be used in the optimum way.
There are no privileged nodes in the SkyWAN.Cargo
service- transmission between any nodes takes
place along the shortest route and that means
minimum possible delays in transmission and a
supports any configuration of links (full-mesh).
Extraordinary flexibility and scalability of
the network
The band allocated to the customer’s whole network
may be any multiple of a segment allowing for
the transmission speeds ranging from 750 kbps
to up to 30 Mbps. This network may be freely extended
as far as the number of nodes or the throughput
are concerned. It is especially possible to add
new nodes without changing the transmission bandwidth
allocated to the network or to increase the transmission
bandwidth with the unchanged number of nodes.
It is also possible to set an asymmetric transmission
for the customer generated network traffic.

SkyWAN©.Transfer
The SkyWAN.Transfer service is provided on the
basis of a teleport in Legionowo, operated jointly
with the company Grytek which today operates near
800 VSAT stations (satellite terminals), connecting
more than 5,300 end points. There are up to 20.00
electronic cash flow transactions being realized
in this system each minute. All these transactions
require the highest levels of the system reliability
and quality of transmission and service. Its modular
architecture scales easily allowing it to adjust
the network capacity to the continuously growing
needs of the users. This service has been created
for the demanding users, interested in both: transaction
handling (deposit and/or withdrawal registration,
authorizing the withdrawals from teller machines
or payments with credit cards) as well as narrow-band
batch transmission (transferring the daily reports,
pricelists, catalogues, distributing the software)

SkyWAN©.BACKUP
This service, using the narrow-bandwidth technology
has been optimized taking into consideration the
economical effectiveness for substitute links.
The branches ASSIGNED by the client are connected
via satellite (single satellite hop) through the
narrow-band VSAT station with the DataTrans’ central
station in Legionowo and then, through the narrow-
band VSAT station (double satellite hop) or (optionally)
through the POLPAK-T ground link with the customer’s
central network node. Option with a ground link
between the central station in Legionowo and the
customer’s central node helps prevents the transmission
delay on the satellite link. Set up this way they
remain a substitute for customer’s existing or
planned ground links.
VSAT station gives the possibility of direct connection
to LAN network with the Internet Protocol (IP)
and Ethernet 10BaseT interface or with X.25 protocol
with RS-232 interface.
Configuration is completely independent of the
client’s ground links. Configuration is independent
of the ground link between the leaf node (client’s
localization) and the SkyWAN network central station
in Legionowo. However, the ground link (radioline,
POLPAK-T) is used between Legionowo and client’s
central unit.
Configuration similar to B with additional satellite
substitute link between the central station in
Legionowo and customer’s headquarters. All solutions
are controlled by the remote management system,
which helps to provide an early troubleshooting
and remote diagnostic every port.

SkyWAN©.POS
This service using the narrow-bandwidth technology
has been designed and configured so as to cooperate
with POS (Point Of Sale) terminals and integrated
cash systems in order to communicate with credit
card authorization center. The branches specified
by the client are connected via satellite (single
satellite hop) through the narrow-band VSAT station
with the DataTrans’ central station in Legionowo
and then, through the narrow-band VSAT station
(double satellite hop) or (optionally) through
the POLPAK-T ground link with the credit cards
authorization center. VSAT station gives the possibility
of direct connection to LAN network with the Internet
Protocol (IP) and Ethernet 10BaseT interface or
with X.25 protocol with RS 232 interface.
Serial ports have been configured to enable a
direct connection of the POS terminal supplied
by the Credit Card Authorization Center. It is
possible to directly connect via the Ethernet
port the VSAT station to LAN network at the sale
point. And to cooperate with the applications
managing the integrated cash systems
There are 3 technical solutions available in the
SkyWAN.POS option:
SkyWAN.POS-2
End point stations will be connected via satellite
with the DataTrans central station in Legionowo
through VSAT station supplied with 2 serial ports
(RS 232) allowing to connect two POS terminals.
SkyWAN.POS-6
Leaf node stations will be connected via satellite
with the DataTrans central station in Legionowo
through VSAT station supplied with 6 serial ports
(RS 232) allowing to connect six POS terminals.
SkyWAN.POS ETHERNET
Leaf node stations will be connected via satellite
with the DataTrans central station in Legionowo
through VSAT station supplied with 2 serial ports
(RS 232) and Ethernet 10baseT port allowing to
connect two POS terminals or any number of cash
systems working with one server with no router
necessary. All solutions are controlled by the
remote management system, which helps to provide
an early troubleshooting and remote diagnostic
every port.
